I chose to do the Foundation Degree in Media Production because ever since I was a child I have
always had a keen interest in media especially making films and skits with my friends. But as I grew
up I didn’t pursue my passion for media and instead went into owning businesses in completely different
job areas. Since being in a car accident in 2015 it gave me time to think and realise that I wanted to
pursue my passion of writing and creating comedy sketches.
On the degree I have been learning every process that is involved in filmmaking, from writing and directing through to editing.
Through learning all of these processes, I have realised I would prefer to get into directing rather than writing comedy. I am still
trying to find my feet with directing but I know the course will help me to further develop my directing skills and can I can learn
a lot on where I want to go in the future. My strengths are getting my ideas across to other people, which I think is a key skill for
directors to have. As part of the course I was able to get on set as 1st Camera Assistant on the film “Foxtrap”. This was an
amazing experience that really opened my eyes to working professionally in the media. The connection I have made with this
production company has given me the network contacts to further a career in the industry.
